Workflow automation · Worcester County, Massachusetts

Workflow automation for small businesses in Worcester County.

I’m Harley Dougherty, an independent builder in Massachusetts. I build small tools for local businesses so the same order is never typed twice, the weekly paperwork prepares itself, and repeat emails start as drafts.

Built for the businesses around here.

Three of the businesses I build for are in Holden, MA: Gabriel’s Menswear, Gabriel’s Tailoring & Tuxedo, and Cleaner Image. The rest are jewelry shops that sell online. All of them are small teams where one person ends up doing the same task by hand every week.

If you run a store, a workshop, a wholesale operation, or a service business in Worcester, Holden, or anywhere in Central Massachusetts, and there is a job your team keeps repeating, that job is where we start.

What I build.

Custom tools around the spreadsheets, documents, and software you already use. Not every task needs AI; some are better handled with straightforward rules, and I recommend the approach that fits the process.

Orders and paperwork

One customer order goes in. An order confirmation, picking instructions, and a tracker come out as drafts. When the order changes, the linked drafts update together for your team to check.

Incoming orders and documents

Purchase orders that arrive as PDFs, emails, or photos are read, matched to your product list, and prepared as lines for a person to approve. Nothing is entered until someone says yes.

Repeat emails

Replies to the questions customers ask every week are drafted from your approved answers, in your voice. You decide what can send automatically and what needs a person.

“I got my weekends and evenings back. I can breathe again, and that’s immeasurable.”

Jessica Alexander

“We’re a small team, so anything that doesn’t get finished during the day usually ends up on my desk at night. Harley helped simplify some of our recurring paperwork, and I’m spending less time catching up after everyone leaves.”

A client

How a project works.

  1. A free 20-minute review

Bring one task the team repeats. No technical brief is needed. By video call, or in person around Worcester County where it helps.

  2. A written proposal

The tools, connections, review steps, and price are agreed before any development starts.

  3. Build and test

I build the tool, connect the agreed software, and test it with real examples from your business.

  4. Handover

A walkthrough for the people who will use it, written running costs, and the support set out in the proposal.

Common questions.

Do you work with businesses outside Worcester County?

Yes. The clients I build for are in Holden, MA and online, and the work itself happens in your spreadsheets, documents, and software, so location rarely limits it. I serve businesses across Massachusetts and work with teams elsewhere by video call.

Do we need to be a wholesaler?

No. Wholesale is where I have worked, so it is the example on the home page. The same approach fits a menswear store, a tailor, a dry cleaner, or a jewelry shop: any small team with a task that repeats every week.

What does the free review involve?

Twenty minutes on a video call, or in person where it helps. You describe one task your team keeps doing by hand. We talk through the steps, the tools involved, and whether it is worth a closer look. No technical brief is needed.

Will we need new software?

I start by looking at the tools you already use and what they can already do. Where practical, the improvement fits around them. Any required changes are explained before you agree to the project.

What does it cost?

The review is free. Implementation is quoted after we review the workflow. Your proposal explains the project price, any ongoing software charges, handover, and included support before work begins.

What keeps repeating?

Bring one recurring task. A description is enough to start. I take on a few new clients each month.
